My other baby.. ♥

...well, not really, but at least it makes yummy delights not just make a mess!
It doesn't give nice cuddles or sloppy kisses so I guess that's its down side.
As part of Blog This, this weeks challenge is Shopaholic, something fabulous bought, something coveted for a while...YES, YES, YES!!!!! of course!
I longingly dreamt about owning this little baby for a while, I dreamt about how fluffy those egg whites would be, how creamy a butter cream icing could get, how velvety a meringue could be...ohhh ♥
So yes, it's extravagant and yes it's a bit on the high end of the price scale but it does look lovely in it's designated corner and it does do a marvelous job a minimum of three times a week, so why would I complain!
So thank you Blog This for giving me the chance to talk about my "other baby" without fear :)

    Wow Cathie! I'm incredibly envious! I have a dodgy, little hand held thing which your 'baby' truly puts to shame... I'll have to put one on my birthday wishlist for next year... mmmm... ;)

    We LOVE our Empire Red KA. We got it as a wedding prezzie 10 years ago and I still sigh every time I take it out to use it. It just makes my kitchen look so much more beautiful, let alone the great job it does on stiffening those egg whites.

    awwwwww I love my kitchen aid, only an artisan but you deserve heavy duty! love the colour of yours as it goes with your kitchen perfectly! I have a cream one picked by my hubby when I gave birth to the twins, what a great reward!

    for me the best feature is being able to walk back to the fridge or pantry and she keeps working for me!!!

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
