it really has been unbearably hot in Melbourne the last few days
...so don't you wish you could run around the backyard in your underwear as well.

    I live in the middle of nowhere so I can. EXcept, last night at about10.30pm I was outside, in my knickers and I hear this 'hellooooo'- I was like 'ahh, who is it?' (who visits at that hour) 'ahhh, just a sec'- followed by mad dash to the laundry to find something- anything to put on my bottom half- then walked out (oh so casually??) 'oh hi'- it was my neighbour looking for his two calves which had gone missing. We went and looked with torches, no luck, found this morning in his back yard! Oh the trials of running around in your knickers!!

    hi Cathie! just catching up on you. loving the lemonade. perfect for this weather. we've had some really hot days here too and i've loved watching the little ones strip down to their underpants and frolick under the sprinkler. i've been under too. but i kept my clothes on so as not to scare the neighbours. we are lucky enough to live in a town with no water restrictions. Sandra x

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
