My Creative Space...

My Creative Space today is to hopefully finish part 2 of my Melbourne Epicure bunting which I showed you the beginnings of here.
The letters are painted on with fabric paint and I used a couple of pairs of Mr M.E's ripped jeans.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement last time as this is my first EVER sewing project and I am quite enjoying it.

Now back to figure out why the sewing machine thread isn't sewing all the way through in parts...hmmm, where's that manual..

    Is there nothing this woman can't do? Not only that, is there nothing this woman can't do exceedingly well...?! I pretend I can sew on a regular basis, but I really just faff about looking busy. I think your bunting is looking amazing. A little too amazing.

    Ah ! now it all add's up. :) ...I was unsure what the denim meant with the last creative space post. This banner looks lovely Cathie...wow...handling a sewing machine sounds so difficult and scary... your work is just so neat...and i love the contrasting panels!
    ps: I posted my creative space with the last post i put up...did you see it cathie ? ... the picture is inspired by your amazing work and also with the tips you gave me on how to get a nice shot with the use of the baking tin :). you are my photography guru ! :)

    The bunting looks great, certainly doesn't look like you got into too many tangles putting it together (but better check the manual just in case!). Have a great day.

    I love bunting - I made my 70 year old mum one that said 'nana' with lots of love - the grandkids loved it too! Well done and excellent old jeans use!

    First sewing project - what a great job you've done.
    Definitely read the manual and change your needle just for luck - denim blunts them quickly.

    It looks good- sometimes with heavy denim its easier to use a denim needle which you can put in any sewing machine- you can get leather ones too.

    I laughed when I read your line about going back to your manual. Truth is I check my manual EVERY TIME I go to thread up my machine... possibly because I don't use it often enough, I obviously need to build up that neural pathway. : D

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

Berrylicious ice cream recipe and a giveaway for you

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
