Colourful treasures

Hope you've had a good weekend, ours has definitely been very colourful.

We did some button sorting, some found at the op-shop, others bought new and placed in my lovely Fowler's preserving jars which I bought a while ago.

Suitcase is yet another addition to our family storage and houses the little ones newly started dress up box.

I wonder what other treasures have been found.

    Beautiful shots, just love that you can use something you've learned properly, education like, in your daily life & new career. I guess as a former pharmacologist i don't overdose the children on panadol, but that's about as useful as my science degrees come in. Why didn't i do something crafty at Uni, why why why??     Love love your button jars. Cathie. You photographed them beautifully! You definitely got the eye ~ the photograph eye.
    What is it with buttons? I have a lovely jar in my cupboard filled with all kind of colored buttons. The children love the stick their hands in it to feel the buttons....

    Those gorgeous colours remind me of cupcake decorations! Very beautiful - even more so with your photography! I love the suitcase, i am needing another one for display at the mo - they are very handy things those! xx

    ♥ the colours...I just have put a whole lot of glass beads in a jar. Looks great on the window sill with the light glistening on the beads. I ♥ colour!

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

Berrylicious ice cream recipe and a giveaway for you

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
