A day at the snow









We surprised the little ones today with a trip to the snow, their first one and as you can imagine, they absolutely LOVED it!

It 's amazing to see something that 18 months ago was ash is now slowly developing and regenerating.

For those who live in luscious snow countries, it is a different type of beautiful, one I absolutely love and wanted to share with you.
I had to use my weekly thrift store finds and addition to the family of ever growing bag/suitcases.

    Winter lasts so long here in Saskatchewan Canada and I am always so tired of it by the time it goes away ~ and here you are ~ reminding me that snow is actually very beautiful!

    But even so ~ I am hoping our snow stays away until at least December! :)

    We plan a visit to the snow this year, hasn't happened yet. Today at our house we seem to have the bone chill factor without the snow!

    We are heading to the snow on Thursday for a few days. I'll be taking my crochet, quilting and camera while the rest of the family take their skis! I love your photos - the black and white works really well for snow pics.

    Oh Cathie, I'm so enjoying the back yard sun that I smile when I see your snow. I do love the snow too... just happy it won't be back for a few months. What a gorgeous outing for you though. Takes me back to when I was a tiny tot in NZ. I remember vividly my first visit to the snow and the flash of our red and blue jumpers against the white. What lovely memories ...

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

Berrylicious ice cream recipe and a giveaway for you

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
