Sunday

I like receiving mail, the kind with a stamp and a hand written note.

Whatever happened to that?

I tried to collect stamps for my little one and realised most  envelopes don't have stamps on them anymore, it's kinda sad.

I am writing a few cards today to send off to some friends and I hope it makes them smile.

    hi cathie..i totally agree with you on this sunday morning. opening a letter from my box is such a thrill, it lightens my days. i remember once i was excited to send a letter home with various different aussie stamps to america and the postal worker was totally annoyed by it: you see the 'stamp' thing is so much quicker.

    Cathie your cards are gorgeous! You're so right about the mail! I'm just thinking maybe it's why I subscribe to so many magazines so as to find more than junk mail and bills in the letterbox! Hope you have a lovely sunday, I'm off to the markets ;-)

    Yesterday I sat down & hand wrote an acceptance to a special birthday party in Melb. next month Cathie & it felt so good. I could have RSVP'd via the email/phone/Facebook addresses given, but this felt better. I hope I'm not considered Millie the Dinosaur now!!

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
