Thursday


Nothing much happening here today, kids are painting, I am stitching, I am cleaning the fridge, I am thinking about making desert with the apples at the bottom of the fridge


I am thinking about putting the kettle on, I am loving this cooler weather, I am loving the kids paintings drying outside, I am admiring my rainbow hair and heart


What about you, are you up to anything exciting, wanna stay for a cuppa, I'll put the kettle on

    I'm loving the cooler weather too. Unfortunately my teapot broke several weeks ago and I'm yet to find a suitable replacement. Tea bags just ain't the same!

    Yes please - I shall stay for a cuppa too (although it has warmed up today and might go and pour myself an iced coffee)
    Love the embriodery - I really should do something like this with Amelia's drawings - it might make a great mothers day gift.

    We have a birthday party this morning then, I too will be cleaning out the fridge and pantry (maybe?) I am thinking apple crumble and custard for dinner. It's just that kind of lovely weather.

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

Berrylicious ice cream recipe and a giveaway for you

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
