Some flowers for you


You know every so often it gets a bit messy round here.
I always try to keep it pretty for you, i don't want you to come over and feel down.

I want you to enjoy your visit and leave smiling, leave hungry, or even leave inspired.


I want you to have that virtual cup of tea with me and we'll pretend that we are sitting around sipping tea and giggling over something or talking about our kids, our men, our veggie gardens, our pets, how to crochet, whether I bake every day or if I have baking disasters

But recently I felt like it wasn't a fun place to visit round here, there wasn't any cake to offer you and that the tea was probably getting a little cold


and you know what, you didn't care, you still came round and you still made me smile and you let me cry and you listened, you just listened 

and you know that the sadness does come and go and will most likely be around again soon


I love that you did that and I love that you know how to relate to my pain, my grief, my sad patches

you are pretty awesome and that is why non bloggers do not get it, they do not get what we get

I don't need to tell you, you just know


So from my heart to yours...thank you, I really do thank you.  
I so wish I could bake you some cookies...

    It's not all sunshine and lollipops this crazy life we live. So I'm glad you keep it real and share the times when those dark clouds come to visit too. Makes it feel like, we share the cuppa and cake when times are good and the hugs when times are bad. Here's hoping we both get through Sunday without too many tears.

    Ahhhh, life, and I'd like my house to be all clean and sparkly and warm and smell nice, when I get visitors. But I love it when people come, and it's not like that, and I don't feel that they are more focussed on the half off apple squashed in the school lunchbox from two days ago on the kitchen table than the conversation. I love that feeling of acceptance and non judgement. I am really happy to just visit and sit and be, with you Cathie dear. x

Honey Jumbles

I just realised that I have been using honey and spices in alot of things lately, I guess it's because it's winter and the smells and tastes make you feel warm and sweet. Have been thinking about making Honey Jumbles for a while and saw them over at Liss's the other day and definitely had to try them as they look and believe me they smell soooo good!  My critics advise me they are delicious and very moreish. Honey Jumbles ingredients 90g butter 3/4 cup honey 2 cups plain flour 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons milk   icing 1 egg white 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted vanilla extract  strawberry paste Method Place butter and honey in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil over a low heat. Simmer for a few minutes, then allow to cool for about 15 minutes Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and add to butter mixture, gently stir in milk.  A...

Berrylicious ice cream recipe and a giveaway for you

As the weather warms up the kids tend to ask for something cold and yummy to enjoy after school. Reading the ingredients labels on ice cream I feel at a loss trying to figure out what all those numbers mean, I mean really, it’s just ice cream, how many ingredients need to be in there after all. I love to try and make everything from scratch so why not ice cream, well I had a go and using an ice cream maker made it really quick and easy. Here’s a basic recipe I made using a Cusinart ice cream maker Berrylicious ice cream Makes 1 litre Ingredients     ¾ cup whole milk   ½ cup sugar or honey if you prefer 1½ cups cream 150grams mixed berries, thawed and slightly mashed with a fork Method U sing a mixer or hand whisk, mix milk and sugar in a bowl for a few minutes until sugar has dissolved   Add cream and mix until combined Turn the machine on and pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minut...
